The popular Festival in Thailand ,nobody don’t know “ Songkran” .Songkran Festival is the important and big festival because this festival is the new year of Thai people.We will have a family activities and friendship party that depend on the local traditional.

Thai people who have to work or study so far from their home  where may be in Bangkok or big town  ,they will be come back to their home in between 11 – 16 April of every year .Songkran festival is a well known festival for the travelers both of thai and foreign visitors.

Songkran Festival will be held from 13-14-15 April when the hottest period in Thailand .We will celebrate the new year by mix between the old and modern traditional .For the old traditional that we do so long from ancestor to our generation that  go to temple to offer food the priest ,make a merit ,pray for good thing for life in the future and  take a bath to Buddha image ( we take a little bit of water that mix with perfume to take a bath with respectful ) .At the temple –there are many activities for us to joint together with family ,friend and neighbor. After we celebrate ceremony at temple we will have the activities with the parents and cousin who we always respect by take a bath that same image of Buddha and we will receive a wish well from them for good moral .

The next activity that we’re waiting for  Modern traditional – funny & enjoy all day .We will prepare big bin for storage water ,small bowl for easy and quick to throw a water .

Sometimes we have a special tool – What’s it ?
It’s the Water Gun with a  various style and more colorful for fire .Water and smile will happen immediately .

For Thai Language “Bang” mean city or town and “Poo” mean Crab ,so the meaning of Bangpoo is city of crab or area of crab .Because Bangpoo has a long beach along Thai gulf with a plenty of natural wetland ,mangrove forest and small fish & crab .But it’s a mud beach no golden sand .

And today Bangpoo is the famous sightseeing that most family appoint for lunch and dinner ,it’s good view atmosphere and sunset. The popular sightseeing that we recommend you to visit is Quatermaster General’s Department of Royal Thai Army restaurant .

Before you reach the restaurant ,you will find a long pier or sometimes we call Sukta bridge .Along this bridge visitors can walk , sit and feed bird food .Most people like to photo group of friend and family with the seagull .

Seagull is a one of highlight there ,they fly from Thibet and Mongolia in November and leave at Bangpoo about 5 Month .They will be fly back in May ,this is a natural of them .You can see and feed the seagull about 4.00 PM .There is a small kios to service a bird food on the bridge .

The Sanctuary of truth  ( ปราสาทสัจธรรม ) or “Prasart Sajchatham” was build since 1981 , but this castle is not complete now because there are many detail of carving part and this is  a very big wooden carving castle .Their plan will finish next 15 year , This castle is decorate by handicraft carving with the skillful sculptors and this castle locate on beach so there are the corrosion effect at somewhere in  this castle from air-sea humidity . They have to build  the next area and repair somewhere in the same time . The Sanctuary of truth was established by Mr.Lek Viriyaphan,who  was also created “Ancient City” and “three headed Elephant ArtMuseum” at Samut Prakarn province.

Red : we say “Daeng” ,

you can say “SI-DAENG” mean Red color .

“Deang” is the one of popuplar nickname of Thai People.Easy to find out the people who is Daeng.Deang can be both of man and woman name.

Green : we say in Thai langauge “KIEW” .

This is the amazing for a traveler who drive on Kaset-Nawamin Road that lacate near Satriwittaya 2 School (โรงเรียน สตรีวิทยา 2 ). There is a sunflower field ( ทุ่งทานตะวัน ) that grow againt the sunshine . Many people park their vehicles for visit and photo because it’s very beautiful view .A lot of photographer meet this sunflower field and they take a lot photos .Although this field is not too big but it can make a lot of family groups  can joint to  take many photos with boys , girls , and parents with happy smile . It’s look a happy sunflower field in Bangkok . There is no charge . We don’t know who is the owner ,but we have to appreciate them for crate a happy sunflower filed to many people . We have to say “Thank you very much”. We need not to go far for meet the sunflower . 

Normally  it will have an annual sunflower Field tour  about November – January near Pasak Chonlasit Dam in Saraburi and Lopburi  that far from Bangkok about 160 Kilometres . It’s popular tour program to touch the natural sunflower field .Because there are a lot of area which plant sunflower ,you will see a wide yellow sunflower land around the you so far that you can see .You can absorb a natural of flower and  mountain  .

We recommend you ,Don’t miss to visit and photo this Sunflower filed if you have the opportunity to pass on Kaset Navamin Road .It’s around  Ladpraw – Chokchai 4 area .  Sometimes we will see a cosmos flower ,it looks like a small sunflower , in this field .It looks nice and you can feel fresh by automatic. It will be change depend on the season.

Songkran Festival in THAILAND .

In April , there is a famous festival –Songkran เทศกาลสงกรานต์  ,The festival celebrated on the day of the passage of the sun to Aries , the first sign of the Zodiac .Songkran festival is the Thai New Year .Most of Thai people will be back home to meet their family with a happiness .Thai people always have a lot of activities in Songkran Day . Songkran day start from 13 – 15  April in every year .  

All North to South or West to East ,every area in Thailand will celebrate this festival , Songkran day ( วันสงกรานต์ ) is a national holiday that government give to everybody have a vacation and back home to joint with their family .In one year someone didn’t back home but this festival most of people come back home to see the family and joint with a lot of activities that depend on their local area . April in Thailand ,it’s the hottest weather in Thailand .So the popular activity is  throw the water together for release the heat of atmosphere . We throw with polite & smile to show the happiness day .Young Thai people always respect the older people so they will polite to pour a water that mix with perfume to the older ,this is a traditional of THAILAND .

Today the young people will enjoy to throw a water together ,you can see a lot of people ,not only Thai People but both of Thai and foreign joint this activities .Sometimes they carries a drum of water on truck  with their team and they drive around the city to throw a water to people on the road ,only this festival they aren’t angry but they understand this is the time of Songkran .They enjoy together .The other one activities that Thai People popular to do in Songkran Day  , they go to temple to perform religious practices , offer food to priest with respect  and devote a good things to the person in family who die ,normally we call “BOON”  . 

All area in Thailand celebrate Songkran festival with happiness and enjoyment . At north ,Chiang Mai is the famous and popular province that Thai people and the visitor  like to joint a lot of activities at Chiangmai . Many young people will play a throwing water at around canal of Muang Chiangmai ,there is a big crowd  around the road .So there is a lot of traffic jam . If you would like to touch the local north traditional ,you can go to a temple . You can joint many activities there , respect pour a water with floating flower for bath to Buddha images , crate a small sand mountain ,chanting  for the good thing will come to your life .Chiang Mai is the one province that you have to visit ( Recommend Don’t Miss to visit Chiang Mai).   

 At Bangkok the famous place to do songkran festival is SA-NAM-LUANG ( สนามหลวง ),Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) provide a lot of activities for people to joint for enjoy . If someone would like to throw a water by many styles ( by hand ,bowl ,small bin , water gun ,etc) , you can go to Tha Non Kaw San  near Sa-nam-luang too .Many foreign like to stay at Tha-non-kaw-san so big group of FA-RANG will joint with Songkran Festival here.All along of KAW SAN road you can find a lot of smile on faces , laugh with happiness .They play with water all 3 days . For Thai people usually go to “WAI-PRA- KAO-WAT” “ไหว้พระ 9 วัด “ is  pray and salute buddha images  at  9 temples in one day .This is a HIT activity of THAI people who joint with their family ,because they believe this is big Merit or “BOON” in their life that they can do in one day .
